Garden show to offer
seminars, full-size displays

The Northwest Flower & Garden Show is set for Feb. 8 through 12 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.

The 18th annual show will offer eight acres of features and exhibits, including 24 full-size display gardens that showcase the visions of top Northwest landscape designers and nurseries, more than 100 offerings in the seminar series and the brand new Sproutopia: A Place for Kids! offering lots of kid-pleasing activities.

REEL BIG DEAL to celebrate
state’s film, video artists

The Arts Council of Snohomish County will present Artist Trust’s REEL BIG DEAL, celebrating the work of Washington state artists working in film and video, from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., in Everett.

The program is a diverse collection of narrative, animated and experimental work. All proceeds will help benefit the Arts Council of Snohomish County and Artist Trust.

Featured directors include Artist Trust grant recipients Iole Allessandrini, Stefan Gruber, John Helde, Wes Kim, Pat Moriarity, Danielle Morgan, Mark O’Connell, Matt Wilkins and Jim Woodring.

Cost to attend the event is $5 for students and seniors, $10 for general admission and $25 for patrons. Tickets can be purchased from the Arts Council of Snohomish County, 1507 Wall St., in Everett or by calling 425-257-8380.

George Winston, Ben Vereen
coming to Bothell

The Northshore Performing Arts Center in Bothell is celebrating its inaugural year in 2006 by offering an array of artists and shows, including:

  • Grammy Award-winning solo pianist and composer George Winston, who will perform old favorites as well as new music off his recent release, “Montana — A Love Story,” at 7 p.m. Feb. 19. Tickets range in price from $29.50 to $39.50.
  • The Ben Vereen Gala, with stage, film and television star Ben Vereen paying a musical tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. at 7 p.m. Feb. 26. Tickets for the show are $49.50. Show tickets plus a pass for the after-show reception with Vereen are $75, and show tickets plus a pre-show dinner and a pass to the after-show reception are $125.

REI workshops set for Feb. 8, 22
Alderwood REI will hold two free workshops in February focused on outdoor fun: snowshoeing and training for mountain climbing and hiking. “Snowshoeing 101” will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 8, and the mountain conditioning course will be held Feb. 22.

Oscar Night at the Symphony in Everett
The Everett Symphony will perform selections from Academy Award-winning movies, including “Westside Story,” “The Godfather,” “Rocky” and “Chicago” during its Oscar Night at the Symphony at 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave, in Everett.

Evergreen RV show rolls into Monroe
The Evergreen RV Show is set for Feb. 17, 18 and 19 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, with 15 Puget Sound dealerships scheduled to be on hand, showcasing more than 400 recreational vehicles and featuring 150 different product lines.

The show will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 17 and 18 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 19. Cost to attend is $6 for adults and $5.50 for seniors.
